This contents page is different to most the layout is very unique nnm have decided to list the bands that feature in there magazine down the left hand side, their feature article is in the centre of the page with the biggest piece of writing they have used an image also to show that it is a big story . They have then got their subheadings down the right side with all of the magazine contents. They have only used 3 main colours and 1 extra colour you would properly find that these colours would match the front cover this is so that it shows a sense of professionalism and not overcrowding it with colours.

Kerrang have used a completely different layout , they have still used the right hand side for there “ what’s in this week “ and their list but then they have decided to use multipull images and multipull feature articles, but they have still used one larger images as their main story . Again they have only used 3-4 colours so that it is not overcrowded.

On this front cover they have used 1 main image as their focus point the image is a mid-shot catching from the waist upwards with both models looking at the camera with a very serious facial expression this shows that they are serious about their job and the music they create. The name of the magazine is the biggest thing on the page and is situated it the top left hand corner this is so that it can catch the readers eye but not interfere with the image. Their subheading is in a different font and is the second largest piece of text on the front this is to show that it is the main feature article in the magazine so that it is easy for the reader to know what is inside without having to search through.

Q1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

My middle page spread follows the conventions of a real magazine because it has got the main tittle at the top of the page on the left hand side and is the biggest thing on the page, also I have a kicker just below the page title. The first letter of my paragraph is a drop cap not all magazines do this but some do and I liked the idea. I have also included some pull quotes and with these I have put my side bar next to them. And finally I have decided to use 2 smaller images instead of 1 main one I have seen a couple of magazines do this and I thought it suited what I was doing more.

My contents page follows the conventions of a regular magazine because I have included normal topics you can normally expect to see in a real music magazine, these include; regulars to the magazine, competitions, and all-round gigs and events information. Also I have seen some magazines put the page number next to the picture like I have and finally the exclusive sign over my main image I have also seen in some magazines. And finally all the images I have included all connect to my target audience they are all modern and stylish images that you can tell connect to the genre of the music.
